Rescue Water Craft and Marine Rescue Services

LSV affiliated Clubs and Services own and operate a number of Marine Rescue Vessels across the state. Vessels include several RIBs (Rigid Inflatable Boats) and RWC (Rescue Water Craft).

Marine Rescue Vessels respond to tasking’s year round and assist the Victorian Water Police in any situation possible.

RWC Service

A rescue water craft is a personal water craft (jetski) with rescue capability. This equipment includes the addition of a sled and other ancillary rescue gear.

The use of powercraft in surf lifesaving and lifeguarding around the world has increased the speed, efficiency and effectiveness of rescuing people in distress.

Our RWC Operators also play an important role in educating the public by helping beachgoers learn about some of the dangers at the locations falling within the roving patrol area.

At Life Saving Victoria, our RWC Operators fulfill several roles, enabling the support of:

Volunteer lifesaving services
-Roving patrols when resources are available to complement existing lifesaving services

State RWC operations
– Call outs / helicopter support
– Paid lifeguard roving patrols;
   > Service coverage extending across the Surf Coast and Bellarine from Lorne all the way East to Point Lonsdale, along Port Phillip Bay from Altona to Sorrento, and then coverage around Phillip Island.
