LIMSOC – Lifesaving Incident Management System and Operations Console is designed to streamline the lifesaver, lifeguard and marine rescue services sign on/off process and provide more efficient, spatially aware incident management. The system ensures the right people have the right information at the right time to make the right decisions.
LIMSOC is user-friendly for services on all platforms including computers, tablets and smartphones.
LIMSOC allows LSV’s rescue services and patrols to:
- Report rescues online and identify their precise location using an interactive map
- Sign on and of their patrols
- Update patrol status
- Sign on and off training activities
- Club Reporting
This minimises non-essential radio traffic across the state reducing the workload for LSVComms operators and allow for services to focus on important patrol operations for a more efficient service.
The LIMSOC system also significantly improves LSVComms incident managementcapabilities, allowing LSV communications operators to track incidents and the location of available recourses. These advancements provide a platform to better coordinate incident management with other emergency services. It ensures the most appropriate response can be made in the event of an incident away from a patrolled location.
The system allows for statistics and data to be collected with incident “hot spots” to be displayed on the interactive map in real time, enabling targeted prevention in high-risk locations and redeployment of resources as required.

LSV Communications Centre (LSVComms) provides communications support for all patrolling members and services. The communications center is located at LSV State Centre at 200 The Boulevard, Port Melbourne.
LSVComms is staffed all patrol days throughout the season and can be reached via radio or landline at 13SURF (137873).
Become a LSV Communications Operator
LSVComms Operators are responsible for receiving and processing all emergency and non-emergency statewide radio and telephone communications. They play a crucial role in the coordination of an effective statewide Life Saving service.
LSVComms Operators work as a part of a small team in a dynamic, technology-based environment. For suitably qualified personnel, opportunities exist to gain casual employment during the summer patrol season.

LSV Standard Radio Call Signs
LSV currently employees a standard set of radio call signs which are individual to each area and service. This is to ensure consistent and standardized form of communication across LSV and as such the following call signs are to be used by and for all radio communications. Please see the document below for the call signs for your service.
LSV continues to work with our partners to continuing delivery of the Digital Radio Upgrade Project (DRUP) to provide volunteers and professional lifeguards with access to public safety grade radio communications.

Radio Observation Report
Any members that wish to make observation about coverage and/or connectivity issues for the radios, please complete a Radio Observational Report.
Note: Members are encouraged to take photos of the portables or fixed units at the time which would assist in understanding the feedback.
