LifeTec Pool Lifeguard Challenge 2023 – Friday 14 July 2023

On July 14, 2023, the Melbourne Sport and Aquatic Centre hosted Life Saving Victoria’s biggest LSV Pool Lifeguard Challenge yet. An equal record-breaking 18 teams travelled statewide to attend, with each team testing their skills through various aquatic and dry challenges.

The 2023 iteration of the event was bolstered by substantial support from Ambulance Victoria. Their participation offered a unique opportunity for lifeguards to interact with emergency services, highlighting the significance of their roles in real-life situations.

The LSV Lifeguard Challenge aims not only to test lifeguard skills but also to enables industry leaders to identify potential gaps in lifeguard training through realistic scenarios. The event was overwhelmingly successful, with participants praising it as enjoyable, educational, and interactive.

Noteworthy contributions came from sponsors LifeTec Rescue ManikinsLaerdal Medical l, which significantly propelled the event’s success. Thank you to LifeTec, in particular, for providing a manikin to the fastest team accomplishing a deep-water extraction.

The competition was fierce, but three teams demonstrated exceptional teamwork, determination, and technical skills, standing out amongst the rest. Glen Eira Sports and Aquatic Centre emerged victorious, followed closely by Werribee Outdoor Pool and Kingston Waves.

2024 is set to be bigger and better with 24 teams set to compete, and is not to be missed!

Congratulations to the top 3 teams:

  • 3rd Kingston WAVES
  • 2nd Werribee Outdoor Pool
  • 1st Glen Eira Sports and Aquatic Centre

2024 is set to be bigger and better! So prepare your teams for 2024.
