Seniors Programming

Life Saving Victoria’s Diversity and Inclusion team deliver Water Safety education to Seniors in a fun and interactive way.

We do this by facilitating engaging information sharing sessions like “Meet a Lifeguard” and “Resuscitate a Mate” at a location of your choice.

We also run sessions at your local swimming pool, beach, or inland waterway through programs like recreation programs through to Grey Medallion programs.

All programs are tailored to suit senior participants and are adapted based on the groups water awareness and confidence.

Meet a Lifeguard

The Meet a Lifeguard program is an interactive session designed to educate seniors and community groups about how to make safe decisions when enjoying inland and coastal aquatic environments.

The roughly 1-hour session is conducted by a lifeguard and can be tailored to suit the requirements of each group, including being held at a location of your choice.

Session Details:

Minimum of 20 participants per session (no maximum)
Program Duration: roughly 1-hour (times can be flexible according to your needs)

Seniors Resuscitate a Mate

The Resuscitate a Mate (RAM) program is an interactive community CPR session designed to educate seniors and community groups about how to help someone in an emergency situation and the knowledge to potentially help save a loved one’s life.

We will cover DRSABCD, calling for help, resuscitation skills and Defibrillation.

The roughly 1-hour practical session is conducted by a Life Saving Victoria team member and can be tailored to suit the requirements of each group, including being held at a location of your choice.

Seniors Recreation Pool Program

The Seniors Recreation Pool program is designed to educate and in some instances re-educate seniors about how to make safe decisions when enjoying swimming pools. It provides

The roughly 1.5-hour session is conducted by a lifeguard and can be tailored to suit the requirements of each group, including being held at a location of your choice.

Seniors Recreation Beach Program

Seniors Recreation Beach program is an interactive session designed to educate seniors and build confidence about how to make smart decisions when attending the beach.

The roughly 2-hour session is conducted by the Life Saving Victoria team and can be tailored to suit the requirements of each group, including being held at a location of your choice.

The session does not require swim wear however if the weather is beautiful, you are welcome to wear them. Participants will be encouraged to dip their toes in the water and engage in activities help on the sand and path surrounding the beach.

Open Water Grey Medallion

The Open Water Grey Medallion program is designed to build confidence and increase participants health, wellbeing, water awareness and provide lifesaving skills in open water environments.

The Program Covers:

Open Water Familiarisation
Water Exercise
Water Rescues
Water Recreation
Resuscitation techniques
